Celebrating My Unique Artwork at a Prestigious Exhibition

Updated: Aug 28

A Special Opportunity for My Monumental Drawings

My monumental drawings are usually too large for your average art competition or group exhibition. So, I’m really excited to share that I have a unique artwork accepted for this prestigious touring exhibition. This is a fantastic opportunity for me to showcase my work to a wider audience.

The Miniature Exhibition

This exhibition is special because it serves as a miniature exhibition in its own right. It features a bespoke archive cabinet that displays the research and development behind my award-winning Kinship drawing. I created this piece to express the sincere conversation I felt I had with the spirit of Picasso during my pilgrimage to Madrid. I spent time with his iconic painting in the Reina Sofia Museum, and it was a transformative experience.

I wanted to keep the sketches and ideas together in a portable display that would typically accompany the Kinship drawing on exhibition. The triptych cabinet has a black-and-white print on the front face. Inside, it holds the original working scale drawing in pencil, along with a collection of sketches, a sketchbook, and tickets from my adventure in Madrid.

The Evolution of My Work

This cabinet also includes the initial thumbnail designs for new contemporary characters and symbols. For instance, I’ve incorporated elements like the mobile phone, the drone, and plastic bottles. These symbols are significant because they were not part of Picasso's lexicon. They represent the modern world and how it interacts with the themes of my work.

The Impact of My Journey

This journey to Madrid was not just about art; it was about connecting with the past and the present. I felt a deep sense of inspiration from Picasso's work. It pushed me to explore new ideas and to think about how contemporary symbols can be woven into traditional themes.

The Kinship drawing is a reflection of my experiences and the conversations I’ve had with art throughout my life. It’s about understanding the relationship between the old and the new, the classic and the contemporary.

Looking Forward

As I move forward, I hope to continue expanding the reach of my distinctive charcoal drawings, public art, and sculptures. My goal is to establish myself as a leading contemporary British artist. I want to grow direct sales of my original artworks and prints while sharing my passion for art with a wider audience.

In conclusion, I’m thrilled to have my work featured in this exhibition. It’s a unique opportunity to showcase my artistic journey and the evolution of my ideas. I can’t wait to see how the audience responds to my work and the stories behind it. Thank you for being part of this journey with me!
