A limited edition, signed, 88 page hard back A4 landscape book.

A photo documentary book on the artwork with essays and notes on the creative process behind the Kinship drawing.

This drawing created in 2023 is a seminal piece in Codling's work marking a freedom of expression and political engagement on a grand scale. The charcoal drawing on a real canvas sail 10m x 3.5m is a response to local history of the community the artist was working in and current affairs from refugees and sanctuary to war zones and innocent victims.

The essay 'a conversation with Picasso' explores the Guernica influence and its relationship to Southampton via the Guernica child refugees of 1937. But also wrestles ideas of originality, iconography and cultural values to art, and its role in society.

The 'conversation with Picasso' a bespoke cabinet display of the working drawings for the Kinship, was shortlisted for the Trinity Buoy 'working' Drawing Prize 2025. Currently on exhibition in London at Trinity Buoy Wharf. The Kinship Drawing is in storage awaiting its next exhibition. Curatorial proposals welcome.

Please be aware of postage, it is £3.50 in the UK and £8 to Europe. Free to collect in person.
