The Dust to Dust wall drawing that was created in 2011 in the The Space Gallery Portsmouth. Created freehand direct to the old wall surface with compressed charcoal sticks.
The book is a visual document of the drawing created by Pete Codling and the demolition of the ‘art school’ building that followed. A running commentary by the artist of the drawing, its inspirations, muses and purpose is complimented by three essays by Dr Jennifer Walden, Dr Marius Kwint and the gallery curator Denise Callender.
The book was printed in two standards, one is an embossed hardback picture cover in an edition of 100, the other a black fabric hardback with ribbon presented in a bespoke black box with a USB stick full of further documentation and a piece of charcoal used to sign the book. Under this book is a small piece of rubble from the original wall drawing.
